Why is it that the postal service charges you $1 to change your address online? You'd think it would be free.?

I think it is kinda lame that USPS can charge you money for changing your address online. You can print the form online but you still have to pay the price of a stamp to send it in. With the form you get at the post office you pay nothing. You would think that by doing it online you are saving them time %26amp; money so they would have it be free. How lame though. Why is it that the postal service charges you $1 to change your address online? You'd think it would be free.?
Speaking of lame. You are charged a dollar so that your IDENTITY can be verified.

At least one of the addresses you submit must match the address of record on the credit/debit card you use.

If you already know about the postage paid COAs available at the PO, why aren't you getting yourself one?
